As in any field, perfumery has its own language. In order to be able to discuss about a perfume, it is customary to classify the notes in different categories that we call olfactory families. It is thanks to this classification that one can choose a perfume more easily, according to one's preferences.

The florals

Often the most important family, it includes any perfume whose main scent is a flower or a floral bouquet. This category highlights notes of jasmine, rose, lilac… which makes it particularly appreciated by women. It comes in sub-categories such as floral-woody, floral-fruity, floral-green, bringing greener notes for example.

You can find these fresh floral notes in Rose Métamorphose.

The woodlands

This olfactory family is rather dominated by warmer and woody notes such as cedar, sandalwood or patchouli, and often appears in the base notes of perfumes. These woody notes are typical of masculine perfumes, but are also used in feminine perfumery.

You can find these notes in our spicy woody fragrance, Vert Désert.

Orientals

The oriental family includes more vanilla, powdery, musky, amber or resinous fragrances which can also mix with notes of spices, wood or flowers. Orientals are perfumes full of sensuality, they are suitable for both women and men.

You can find these notes in our gourmet oriental perfume, Noir Délit.

The chypre

The chypre family is made up of characterful fragrances, easily identifiable with their accords of bergamot, oak moss, or patchouli. These perfumes are often supplemented and thus softened by fruity or floral notes.

Ferns

These are fragrances with woody and lavender notes mixed with notes of geranium, bergamot, oak moss... An olfactory family intended more particularly for men's perfumery.

The citrus

This category is particularly attributed to colognes, with a set of essential oils based on citrus zest such as mandarin, grapefruit, lemon or bergamot. A fresh and airy, rather invigorating scent that is most often found in the top notes of perfumes.

Notes that you will find in our citrus citrus fragrance, Rose Métamorphose, fresh and light.

Aromatics

It is the family of aromatic ingredients such as thyme, lavender, rosemary, typical of masculine perfumes. It is often accompanied by citrus or spicy accords.

Leathers

Very typical, this olfactory family recalls the smell of tanned leather, smoky notes obtained thanks to birch, animal notes or thanks to tobacco or honey accords. This type of note can also be classified in the chypre family.
